Climate risk information for decision-making at community level

The project developed a series of technical notes for the Asian Development Bank (ADB), focusing on how climate risk information can be used for community development programs in infrastructure, water resources, and agriculture. The notes are inputs to ADB-organized knowledge workshop on how communities’ resilience to disaster and climate risk can be strengthened through community development processes.

Technical advisory services for climate information and services to manage climate risk in the dry zone of Myanmar

The project aimed to strengthen institutional arrangements and related capacities of Myanmar’s Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, sectoral agencies, local government institutions, CSOs, and communities in managing climate-related risks through improved understanding of climate risks in project locations, enhancing the formulation of weather/ climate forecast and related information, including information dissemination.

Exposure visit by Pakistan policymakers to Thailand and the Philippines

The project exposed Pakistan policymakers to climate risk management and climate change adaptation policies and practices in Philippines and Thailand to enable participants to integrate learning into the implementation of Intercooperation Pakistan’s project on livelihoods programme Hindukush. Key activities included organization and technical inputs to the study visit.

Provision of data and system development support for medium-range to seasonal rainfall-runoff forecast system for Map Ta Put, Rayong

The project aimed to develop an application for river runoff and reservoir inflow forecasting for selected river basin in Map Ta Put, Rayong, Thailand, to guide water allocation and management. Key activities included provision of site-specific medium range to seasonal rainfall forecasts; development of web-based application for integrating rainfall forecast data into hydrological model

Towards sustaining the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia end-to-end multi-hazard early warning system

The project aimed for countries that are collaborating under RIMES to incorporate into their budgets support for sustaining RIMES. Key activities include documentation of socio-economic benefits of a regional multi-hazard early warning system; and advocacy with collaborating countries to invest in a regional arrangement for early warning

Developing an agromet decision support system for farm advisory (2020- 2025 Back up Support)

The project aims to develop and implement a functional agromet advisory service in 2 pilot sites (Paro and Sarpang), assess the Department of Agriculture (DOA) technical capacity for agromet services, and provide training on crop modeling, decision support systems (DSS), and integration of climate information in farming system models to develop adaptive capacity to mitigate climate risks.
