Capacity building on generation and application of downscaled climate change projections

The project aimed to build capacities of NMHSs in customizing regional climate projections, capacity building of sectoral users on interpretation and application of customized projections for risk analysis, and planning departments for integrating risk-informed adaptation into development planning processes. Fariha Ferdous Deeny

As a Project Officer (Communication), Fariha Ferdous Deeny is responsible for supporting RIMES projects in topographic surveys and data quality checking, geospatial analysis, regional planning, and technical documentation for relevant sectors e.g. water resources transportation etc. In Bangladesh, Deeny supports conducting research, assisting project activities at national and field levels, coordinating with partners at national down to local levels to facilitate implementation of project activities, assisting in the facilitation and management of field visits by donors and partners.

Organization of SASCOF-7

The project assisted WMO in organizing the 7th session of the South Asian Climate Outlook Forum (SASCOF-7) and the 1st session of the South Asian Climate Services user Forum for Agriculture (CSUF-Ag1). Key activities included forum preparations, development and issue of a consensus-based climate outlook statement for 2015-2016 winter season over South Asia, and documentation.

Sakib Imtiaz

As Disaster Risk Management Specialist, Sakib is responsible for designing and implementing RIMES’ DRM initiatives in Bangladesh. In addition, he contributes to the documentation, program development, and exploring potential partnerships.
