The project contributed to building resilience to weather- and climate-related hazards through capacity development on impact forecasting in the project countries. Key activities included: Training of climate information users in potential impact assessment, risk analysis, and application of outputs in planning and decision-making for resource and risk management; establishment/ enhancement of seasonal forums with multi-hazard scope in Fiji, PNG, and Samoa, facilitating potential impact assessments to inform seasonal planning; integration of earth observations from ESCAP’s regional drought mechanism in potential impact and risk assessments to guide seasonal planning in Cambodia, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka; development/ expansion of decision support systems to aid potential impact and risk analyses in the agriculture sector in Cambodia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Papua New Guinea to inform decision-making for managing risks/ resources; and capacity building of NMHSs to enable them to respond to user demands
