The project aimed to ensure availability of weather forecasts and agro-advisories in 6 sub-districts of Jessore, Satkhira, and Khulna in Bangladesh, in support of Practical Action’s project on agricultural and water resilience in coastal areas of Bangladesh. Activities included: siting, acquisition and installation of 1 automatic weather station, including operation and maintenance training; customization of RIMES agro-meteorological advisory system to include the pilot areas; linking voice SMS and in-call services to the agro-advisory expert system for dissemination of advisories; and training of staff of Department of Agricultural Extension, Department of Fisheries, Practical Action and its partners for piloting application of advisories.
